Starting Salary £6.40 p/hr (Increasing each academic year as per the SJIB pay structure)

Based on 37.50 hours per week Monday to Friday we offer a salary based on SJIB industry rates with yearly increments on successful completion of current phase of apprenticeship.
What you’ll be doing:
Your Key Responsibilities & Accountability on completion of apprenticeship include:
- Understand and apply the principles, practices and legislation for the termination and connection of conductors, cables and cords in electrical systems
- Understand and apply the practices and procedures for the preparation and installation of wiring systems and electro technical equipment in buildings, structures and the environment
- Understand and apply the electrical principles associated with the design, building, installation and maintenance of electrical equipment and systems
- Oversee and organise the work environment
Your skills and experiences:
Apprenticeship candidates will normally have attained qualifications (National 5 or equivalent) to include as a minimum Mathematics, English, and a Science.
The apprenticeship which will include day release study at Motherwell College.
Due to the location of study and work, its preferred candidates have a licence and transport or on path to completing their test in the near future.
The following qualifications are attained through this apprenticeship:
- SVQ Level 3 in Electrical Installations
- BS 7671 Electrical Installations
Job Role
Due to continuous growth, we are seeking an Apprentice to join the Electrical Contracting division within the Hamilton Business Unit.
Electricians install, maintain and repair electrical systems in industrial, commercial and domestic environments. Electrical equipment and systems may include switchboards, motors, cables, fuses, thermal relays, fault current protection switches, heating, lighting, air conditioning and metering equipment as well as crime and fire alarm systems and renewable energy technologies.
Electrical safety is an important area of Electricians’ work. On completion of their work the electrical systems must be safe to use. They must adhere to safe working practices without endangering themselves or others.
Electrical apprentices will be expected to travel to/ from various sites to carry out the project work. There may also be an element of working away on a job-by-job basis.
