Job description

Are you an Electrician or Electrically biased Service Engineer looking to take the next step in your career within the Water Industry? If so, we have a role which will see you join a friendly, supportive team, where you'll help to look after our water production sites, maintaining the highest standards for customers.

This is a Monday to Friday role, but standby cover will be required for evenings and weekends on a rota basis, which equates to an availability payment of around £1,950 per year, plus a performance bonus of up to 5% of your salary and overtime available. A company van and all the tools and training you will need to complete your role will be provided.

This opportunity will suit you, if you are an established Electrical Maintenance Technician, looking for a new challenge, covering our water production sites across the Trowbridge, Warminster and surrounding areas.

Whether you have previous experience working in a 24/7 operational production environment; a commercial, industrial or domestic background; or experience testing, inspecting and fault finding, then we want to hear from you!

What you'll do

As an Electrical Maintenance Technician, you will join the EM&I team, carrying out planned preventative maintenance and reactive work on our water production sites.

Day to day your responsibilities will be to ensure the effective operation of plant machinery and equipment, as well as carrying out fault finding, fault diagnosis and fault resolution.

Your experience and expertise in decision-making will be second to none, as you will confidently seek to make continuous improvements on our water supply sites to reduce the risk of them not performing to their full potential.

What you'll need

In this position, you will be required to have a can-do attitude and a flexible approach to work activities as you will be involved in a variety of tasks. You will also have ongoing development opportunities to develop your skillset and knowledge, which can include progressing into PLC programming.

To be successful, we are seeking a time-served Electrical Maintenance Technician or Service Technician who is competent in three-phase and single-phase power, control circuits and finding faults.

It is essential that candidates applying for the role hold a minimum City & Guilds/BTEC, NVQ Level 3 or a time-served electrical apprenticeship. Formal mechanical training (dual skilled) is preferred but not essential. The successful candidate would also need to have excellent health and safety awareness and IT literacy.

To be considered for this role you must hold a valid driving licence, as there will be regular travel to various sites within the region. You will also be required to participate in a standby rota.

What you'll receive

  • Total pension contributions up to 20%.
  • Career progression and professional development opportunities.
  • 25 days' holiday rising to 28 with length of service.
  • The opportunity to buy up to ten days' holiday and sell up to five every year.
  • A healthcare package that allows you to claim back healthcare costs.
  • Life assurance of up to eight times your salary.
  • A new electric car in exchange for part of your gross salary.
  • Cashback and discounts from more than 3,000 retailers.
  • One paid volunteering day each year.
  • Enhanced family leave and pay arrangements.
  • An interactive health and wellbeing platform.
  • Support from mental health first aiders.
  • A £1,000 referral fee if you recommend someone to work for us.
