As responsible manager for ScottishPower Renewables (SPR) High Voltage (HV) electrical network, the Electrical Network Operations Manager shall be responsible for the safe, efficient and compliant management of SPR's electrical infrastructure. This equates to over 2000MWs of installed Renewables generating plant valued in excess of £3bn, located across 39 of SPR's operational UK Windfarms.  The role includes responsibility across all three Renewable generating technologies, wind, battery storage and photovoltaic. 

In addition to the dynamic operational management of the electrical network, the Electrical Network Operations Manager shall be responsible for the ongoing delivery and continual improvement of the electrical network asset management strategy, implementation/management of applicable operational management systems and electrical duty holder as per Electricity at Work regulations.

You will ensure delivery of annual business performance production and availability targets in a safe and sustainable manner whilst growing SPR's systems, capabilities and competence to incorporate the electrical aspects of 3GWs of the delivery pipeline by the end of 2026 and up to 6GWs by the end of 2030. 

What you'll be doing
With direct accountability for the operation of SPR's HV electrical network associated with over 2000MW of installed Renewable generation across 39 operational locations, you will be responsible for the ongoing implementation and refinement of the electrical network asset management strategy, in order to ensure operational, regulatory and legislative compliance whilst outperforming business targets.

Planning, coordinating and delivering the annual electrical plant inspection and preventative maintenance campaign, ensuring any defects are managed in a timely fashion, you will develop the required organisational and competency strategy for HV operations in order to increase the capabilities of the UK Operations & Maintenance team in relation to HV asset operations and management.

Supporting the operational strategy for the integration of new technology (Solar PV and Battery Storage (BESS)) in relation to electrical operations and applicable safe systems of work, you will manage a diverse team of electrical network operations SAPs/CP's, Operational Technicians and external contracted resource in order to deliver operational performance across SPR's HV network on a 24/7 basis.

Requiring business critical, real-time decision making within a 24/7 dynamic operating environment to ensure adherence with regulatory requirements, whilst maximising commercial performance and minimising H&S and Environmental risks across assets values in excess of £3bn, you will lead the development and management of the applicable operating methodology and SP E&M Safety Rules in order to ensure all electrical network operational activities are performed in a safe and compliant manner.

Enacting the role of SPR Electrical Authorising Engineer with respect to the formal electrical safety rule authorisation of all SPR staff (and contractors where applicable) which extends to the investigation of safety rules related incidents and the suspension and withdrawal of authorisations where necessary, you will manage technical/commercial/compliance risks associated with the ongoing operation of the SPR electrical network to ensure risk mitigation measures are delivered and incorporated into the SPR integrated management system, meeting business performance targets within the UK legislation framework.

What you'll bring

Degree educated in an Electrical Engineering related discipline, or possessing equivalent industry experience, you will be a Chartered member of a relevant Engineering related Institute or working towards.

With practical experience in the asset management of high value industrial HV and LV systems, including resource planning and maintenance project delivery, you will demonstrable specific knowledge of electrical assets and technology associated with Generating plant at voltages up to and including 132kV.

Experienced in managing development of HV operational/safety rules and procedures, you will be experienced in the management of high performing dynamic teams.

With ability to travel within the UK and internationally as required, a flexible approach to working hours and availability out-with normal working hours to address and attend business-critical activities and emergencies is required.

Able to work at heights and within enclosed spaces, you will also be NEBOSH qualified or experienced with a strong understanding of Health, Safety and Environmental principles and their application in the management of large-scale industrial assets

A UK driving licence is required.
