Key Responsibilities:
To understand project requirements and engineer a solution to support the development from an electrical perspective. To provide site liaison, Installation & Commissioning support.
Design
- Produce detailed design of control/electrical systems including system architecture, cable block diagrams and selection of equipment etc to IET wiring regulations
- Generation of schematics, cable schedules & electrical calculations
- Develop and design high level electrical control panel layout in line with project requirements
- Selection and configuration of process instrumentation, sensors, weighing systems etc
- Functional Safety system design to include interlocks / guarding / trip systems - designing to IEC61508, Machinery & Low Voltage directives. Knowledge of hazardous area design.
- Controlling project scope and identifying change in accordance with Company procedures.
- Assist with the preparation of tender documents, leading on project scoping
- Implementing and maintaining project management tools, including action logs, request for information logs, risk registers, etc.
- Design, specify & select control system hardware & software
- Effectively apply the Company’s methodology and project standards, engaging in quality assurance procedures
Commission
- On site commissioning of Electrical, Control and Instrumentation systems including building and testing
- Generating project documentation including statements of work, specifications, commissioning documentation, completion certificates, O&M manuals, etc.
- Liaising with and supporting Project Engineers and site delivery team.
- Full site liaison including management of 3rd party contractors, installation programme & commissioning support
Specific Tasks
- Liaising with clients to incorporate project requirements and engineer appropriate solutions
- Identify and organise equipment and resources required as part of the costing schedules
- PDI/FAT of equipment and systems at suppliers or clients premises
- Identify business development and “add on” sales opportunities as they relate to specific projects
- Ensure the Project Manager is fully appraised of the status of the engineering function at all times
- Full site liaison, Installation & Commissioning support
- Provide engineering contribution to, or manage fully FEED/Design Studies etc
- Anticipate project risks, identifying and establishing corrective actions
Essential Qualifications and Skills:
- Electrical Engineering Degree or HNC
- Qualified to the latest IET Wiring Regulations
- Understanding of applicable H&S regulations
- Process Safety
- Knowledge of industry standard equipment
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Skills to demonstrate commitment to company and client standards
- IT/communication systems – Word, Excel, MS Project, PowerPoint, Teams, SharePoint
- Excellent communication skills (written and verbal)
- A UK driving license and a willingness to travel
- Time served in the Brewing, Dairy, Food or Beverage industry (Desirable)
- Proficiency in using AutoCAD as a draft and designing tool (Desirable)
