With a commitment to excellence, we are currently involved in a ground breaking renovation project at the British Library, focused on modernizing a large multi-store 1970's collection store. The project aims to enhance all MEP (Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing) services to meet contemporary standards and includes the creation of a state-of-the-art automated storage facility utilizing passive climate control to preserve valuable materials.
Project Overview:
The British Library renovation project involves the refurbishment of an extensive 8-floor, 4000m2 collection store, encompassing a range of intelligent services. These services include oxygen depletion systems, fire suppression systems, heat detection, and climate control systems. The overarching goal is to transform the facility into a modern, efficient space while ensuring the preservation of historical materials through cutting-edge technologies.
Role Overview:
As an Electrical Project Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in the success of the project and will be an integral part of a strong MEP team. The role offers a unique opportunity for professional growth and development, with the potential duration of the project spanning up to 3 years.
Key Responsibilities:
- Electrical System Design and Implementation: Develop and implement electrical system designs in line with project requirements and modern industry standards.
- Collaboration: Work closely with the broader MEP team to ensure seamless integration of electrical systems with other services, contributing to the overall success of the project.
- Compliance: Ensure all electrical systems comply with relevant regulations, codes, and standards, taking responsibility for the safety and efficiency of the installed systems.
- Project Management: Contribute to project planning and coordination, assisting in the effective management of timelines, resources, and budgets.
- Problem-solving: Proactively identify and address electrical engineering challenges, proposing innovative solutions to ensure project success.
- Quality Assurance: Implement rigorous quality assurance processes to guarantee the reliability and performance of electrical systems.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Degree qualified in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
- Proven experience as an Electrical Engineer, preferably within large-scale construction or renovation projects.
- Familiarity with MEP systems, automation, and intelligent services.
- Strong knowledge of relevant electrical codes and standards.
- Excellent project management and communication skills.
- Ability to thrive in a collaborative team environment.
