Electrical/ Electronic Technical Support Engineer Degree Apprentice
Apprenticeship Programme
You will be working towards a level 6 Electro – Mechanical Engineer Degree, whilst developing your skills and knowledge with on-the-job training and experiences. You will have the opportunity to spend 20% of your week learning with an external training provider working towards an externally recognised qualification. The following 80% of your time will be based at Bentley’s headquarters in Crewe, you’ll work alongside industry-leading experts gaining practical knowledge of what you are studying, take part in corporate social responsibility initiatives and grow your networks, equipping you with personal and professional training and development to accelerate your career.
About Research & Development
The R&D department are responsible for the entire design and development process of all Bentley products, from idea creation all the way through to engineering sign off. Our mission is to inspire our customers by creating extraordinary products through passion, collaboration and sustainable innovation. Our R&D team consists of six departments: Products & Concepts, Body & Trim, Electrical & Electronics, Vehicle Motion, Whole Vehicle Engineering and Technical Conformity. As an Apprentice at Bentley you will be working alongside and mentored by R&D industry technical experts, giving you real-life tangible experience to elevate your career journey in R&D.
There are two departmental areas available within R&D:

Vehicle Motion
The Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) team within Vehicle Motion are responsible for enhancing the driving experience of Bentley vehicles. Working alongside industry experts you will understand how ADAS systems work and are integrated into Bentley vehicles. Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Support engineers in the delivery of project requirements for Advanced Driver Assistance Systems
- Manage your university work, delivering assignments and other related tasks to ensure the successful completion of the degree and apprenticeship programme
- Gain proficiency with vehicle diagnostics, measurement hardware and software and engineering electronic control unit (ECU) functionality
Body & Trim
Here at Bentley we design, and manufacture the most luxurious vehicles in the automotive industry. Within Body & Trim we have three exciting and innovative areas available for our successful apprentices: Exterior, Interior and Vehicle Safety and Integration. Within these areas you will learn expert skills, discover new solutions and contribute to the success of all future Bentley products. Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Explore opportunities to integrate innovative technology
- Collaborate with engineers in the development of electromechanical systems across all areas of Body and Trim
- Contribute to the creation of data-sets, testing and measuring, whilst collaborating with different departments across Bentley to ensure that Bentley seats successfully integrate into the vehicle architecture
About you
It would be advantageous to have demonstrable experience of working in a team through extracurricular activities or part time work. In addition to an interest in learning more about the Automotive Industry and Sustainability topics. The successful candidate will:
