As a design and development engineer, you will be responsible for the design and development of body electronics parts, including meeting cost, quality, and performance targets. You will lead a team of engineers, responsible for the design and development of electrical and electronic parts, which may include body electronics parts and power systems parts. You will be responsible for team management and the education and training of their team. They will also be responsible for the checking and validation of components and designs and for providing communication bridge to team in Japan.
We are looking for a strong candidate to lead one of the three teams, responsible for developing these exiting and rapidly developing commodities, for our AMEIO customers.

Purpose
We are seeking a senior design and development engineer for Electronics & Electrical to be based at Nissan Technical Centre Europe, Cranfield to manage all aspects of design and development of body electronics parts. This is an exciting opportunity to become involved in the Research & Development team for all Nissan vehicles manufactured in Europe.
Main Tasks & Responsibilities
As a senior design and development engineer for Electronics & Electrical, you will be responsible for the following:
- Design and development of body electronics parts, including meeting cost, quality, and performance targets.
- You will lead a team of engineers, responsible for the design and development of electrical and electronic parts, which may include body electronics parts and power systems parts.
- You will be responsible for team management and the education and training of a team tasked with the checking and validation of components and designs and for providing communication bridge to the team in Japan.
The senior design and development engineer should have the following skills or experience:
- Be degree qualified (or equivalent) in a relevant discipline
- Leadership qualities
- Previous experiencing with developing similar commodities
- Competent with PC applications including Microsoft excel and Microsoft PowerPoint
- Ability to prioritise and multitask between multiple projects simultaneously
- Be self-motivating, self-managing and pro-active.
- Be flexible regarding working practice and working hours.
- Be able to travel abroad, typically a few days to 2 weeks, but on rare occasions travel may be long distance and or, at short notice.
- Have good written and verbal communication skills.
- Valid UK/European driving licence is MUST
