THE JOB
We have a permanent vacancy for an experienced Plating Industry Technician to join our plating team at our Wolverhampton facility. The successful candidate will have previous experience of plating / electroplating within a busy manufacturing environment. This position is NIGHTS paying up to £46,000.
What you will be responsible for
- Working to a higher than industry standard in quality in the production of luxury high end household products, you will monitor and record all plating line process parameters including the effluent plant process.
- Recognise, remedy or report variations on process parameters. Investigate causes of variation and implement corrective action plans to prevent recurrence.
- Produce and maintain work instruction sheets for all processes and operations.
- Conduct regular plant process and procedure audits.
- Conduct routine plant maintenance as required - the plating department has 4 plating lines offering 8 different surface finishes.
- Analyses line chemistry and make additions /adjustments as required and records in to SPC software.
- Monitor and report internal scrap rates.
- Recognise, rectify, or report any trends in rejects and other quality issues.
- Develop quality plans for the plating and inspection of parts and conduct visual and performance checks as required.
- Undertake laboratory analysis as required.
- Consult with external suppliers regarding maintenance, repair, and improvement plans.
- Consult with others as required and assist as necessary in resolving any quality or production issues.
- Recognise and report failings in skills, equipment, or procedures.
- Maintain good communications and relationships throughout the company.
- Ensure compliance with company procedures and make suggestions for improvement.
- Drive the HSE culture within the department, and site looking for improvement.
- Maintain a clean, safe working environment and good housekeeping standards
What you will already have
· Ability to work independently and prioritise tasks effectively in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
. A recognised Chemistry / chemist qualification in this sector
. Electrophoretic coating / plating experience is preferred
· May consider chemical analysis experience if no qualification
· Proficiency in using computer software for data entry.
· Excellent communication skills to collaborate with engineering, quality & Maintenance engineers, and cross-functional teams.

NOTE;
You will be required to work days / afternoons for the first couple of months to learn the processes before transferring onto the night shift. Your salary will be lower as you will be paid on a day rate during this time not the night shift uplift.
