AWE is recruiting for an Emergency Planning and Preparedness Manager.
In this exciting, dynamic role, no 2 weeks will be the same. As the Emergency Planning and Preparedness Manager, you will play a vital part in ensuring that AWE sites remain open and operational, responding to real life incidents as they happen. You will provide support in developing and delivering the AWE Emergency Response Strategy and Site Emergency Plans, leading, and mentoring a dedicated team of individuals.

Location - Reading / Basingstoke Area
Salary - Up to £60k (dependent on experience and suitability for the role)

What you ll do:
  • Deputise for the Senior Emergency Planning and Preparedness Manager.
  • Assess staff performance, measured against agreed personal objectives and accountabilities and taking corrective action to improve performance where necessary via appropriate management interventions.
  • Liaise with the Senior Emergency Planning and Preparedness Specialists in supporting their task management requirements.
  • Ensure that Emergency Planning and Preparedness Group deliverables meet quality/delivery commitments and satisfy customer, statutory, regulatory, and internal Emergency Planning, preparedness, and response requirements.
  • Stakeholder management and interface development.
  • Visible commitment to safety improvement programmes and follows up accidents and injuries.

Who you ll be:
  • Holder of a Diploma or higher qualification in Emergency Response, Emergency Planning, or a related subject or equivalent working experience would be essential.
  • Able to demonstrate their ability to manage and influence people and to motivate others while adapting their leadership style as required.
  • Have experience in managing and resolving complex, cross discipline, technical and organisational issues while identifying problems, evaluating options, and formulating effective solutions.
  • Confident dealing with conflict, while also being able to communicate, present and negotiate with all levels of the business.
  • Lead by example always, with experience of team management in challenging situations
  • Experienced in working within high hazard industries

The role will require the successful candidate to be open to multi-site travel, occasionally including countrywide and potentially overseas.
Candidates must be willing and able to obtain and maintain the required security clearance for the role.
