Emergency Planning Officer

This is an exciting opportunity to join the County Councils Emergency Planning Team. We are seeking to appoint experienced emergency planners who are energetic, enthusiastic and highly motivated to work as part of the team to deliver all aspects of Emergency Planning and response.


There are two Emergency Planning Officer vacancies in the team x1 permanent position and x1 Maternity leave cover for up to one year. Please confirm, via your personal statement, if you have a preference on the job type.


About The Team & Role

The team is responsible for ensuring that the council has organisational preparedness to deal effectively with a range of possible emergencies, working closely with key internal and external stakeholders to provide resilience to the county of Gloucestershire.


As a member of the team, you will be working closely with the wider County Council partners, District Councils, Local Resilience Forum and partner agencies, building strong working relationships. Your responsibilities will include preparation and maintenance of emergency plans, preparation and delivery of exercises, providing business continuity advice and guidance, providing support, advice and guidance to tactical/strategic officers, being part of the 24/7 on-call rota and secretariat support to Gloucestershire PREVENT Partnership Board.


About You

To be successful you will need a working knowledge of the Civil Contingencies Act 2004, with experience of coordinating emergency response arrangements at a tactical level. You will also bring your resilience and positive, energetic nature to ensure that both yourself and those you’re working alongside are able to respond to unpredictable and unplanned events, as well as positively adapt to changing and competing demands.


We also need your excellent communication skills and credibility to influence and lead people at different levels of seniority, to secure commitment to strategic objectives and maintain effective partnerships.
