About the Team

 

The Warwickshire Supported Employment Service is a Warwickshire County Council service which is part of the Employability and Skills team, known externally as the Warwickshire Skills Hub. The service supports hundreds of young people and adults with learning disabilities and/or autism to gain paid employment.

 

Building on the council’s significant investment in a range of support for young people and adults with supportive needs, the Warwickshire Supported Employment Service is designed to deliver highly engaging activity, supporting individuals to engage in meaningful Employment Support which is shaped to meet their needs and overcome barriers into employment. Individuals are invited to attend regular community-based group sessions, linking directly to inclusive and uniquely carved employment opportunities with Warwickshire employers.

 

The ultimate goal of the service is to help those wanting to work to access employment opportunities, strive for independence and identify a career path which is sustainable and supports the individual to thrive.

 

Due to the success and growth of the service, we must now build additional resource to support the increasing demands of in-work support and job coaching.

 

The ideal candidate should represent the values of our organisation, understand the future vision of our service and have the ability to inspire those we support, employers and the various partners we work with.

 

About the Role

 

The role of Employment Support Advisor is one which works with both employers and the individuals who have been supported into work by the Warwickshire Supported Employment Service. The role has a dedicated focus on providing in-work support with specific priorities such as

 

  • Supporting individuals to settle and establish in their new roles, working with employers to shape induction plans and create effective mentoring support in the place of work.

 

  • Provide long-term support to individuals and employers. Retention plans will offer continued coaching and mentoring, whilst also shaping additional development plans with the employer’s support where needed.

 

Key Requirements

 

  • You will hold a qualification or completed training in supported employment, systematic instruction, advice and guidance or equivalent.
  • You will have at least 2 years’ experience of supporting young people and adults with autism and learning disabilities into work.
  • You will have experience in evaluating and supporting the needs of young people and adults with autism and learning disabilities.
  • You will have experience of working with employers to explore and implement reasonable adjustments in the workplace.
  • You will have experience in managing caseloads with a variety of needs.
  • Ability to take the lead in delivering a person-centred Employment Support plan.
  • Ability to lead on working with external suppliers to shape workshops, training and employer engagement events.
  • Ability to work with various digital packages such as word, excel, PowerPoint and Microsoft teams.
  • An innovative and strategic thinker, with an ability to identify and explore new ways of working to compliment different caseloads.

 

The post is based at the Warwickshire Skills Hub in Nuneaton with county wide travel and visits to neighbouring authorities anticipated.
