Job description

Working collaboratively with the immediate and extended Endoscopy MDT on both sites Assisting in the direct delivery and management of the Pre-assessment services. Acting as the patient advocate supporting them to navigate and make informed choices at all stages of the process. Promoting health promotion strategies Supporting the senior nurses in the development of the service Supporting the team with clinical governance, quality assurance and quality management systems. Ensuring that patient data are collected to meet trust and JAG requirements The ability to evaluate the service Working collaboratively to ensure audit of the service is in line with National Guidelines If you have Endoscopy experience to support and work in the Endoscopy unit to maintain your skills. Working relationships and communication requirements of your role Maintain good relationships between all members of staff, thus maintaining professionalism throughout the unit and the Pre Assessment process Ensure good communication verbally and via formal documentation and electronic sources with all members of the nursing, multidisciplinary team, patients and families/carers Assist in the problem solving strategies to enhance patient care Have the ability to provide and receive complex and sensitive information Communicate with senior colleagues regarding changes in circumstances, which may affect safe practice Ensure that accurate records and information systems are maintained Recognise the legal implications of accurate and legible documentation, maintain accurate and legible records of patient care, in line with Trust policy and NMC Code of Conduct Adhere to the NMC Code of Conduct and Trust policy with regards to patient confidentiality/Data Protection Act/Caldicott Recommendations Work in partnership with patient/family and colleagues to develop and maintain effective working relationship within the clinical area Level of Clinical Responsibility Ability to relate to all staff, patients, relatives and visitors demonstrating effective listening skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team or autonomously Be aware of your level of competence and knowledge, work within your limitations when making clinical decisions regarding patient care. Seek assistance from senior nurses/team where appropriate Ability to analyse information while liaising with MDT to ascertain patient fitness procedure Ensure evidence based practice is utilised collaboratively with the nursing process Where appropriate support students and learners development Leadership and staff management responsibility Leadership and staff management responsibility To maintain the endoscopy pre-assessment service in the absence of senior staff Ability to work as part of a team as well as autonomously Ability to prioritise work load Ability to manage time effectively Promote pre-assessment service in providing excellent clinical practice Contribute to an active learning environment and facilitate/organise teaching and other members of staff Report untoward incidents such as complaints, clinical emergencies, injury or errors as per Trust policies/procedures Financial Responsibility Financial Responsibility No direct budget responsibility but an awareness of effective use of resources and cost implications, Participate in being cost effective in the delivery of high quality of care Service Development and improvement Be proactive in developing own expertise and learning resources within identified area of clinical interest for the benefit of all staff. Act as Clinical Resource in that area of interest Keep up to date with professional issues relevant to nursing practice within area of clinical practice, management education and research. Utilise a specialist theoretical and research based approach to practice Participate in the development of new ways of working within the department Continually monitor standards of practice making changes where appropriate through audit. Be aware of objectives and strategies at Local and Government Level.
