Energy Transition Manager
Competitive starting salary from £48,813 inclusive of annual 2024 pay award
Up to 10% bonus
Permanent role 40 hours per week
Based at our offices in Thorpe Park

We are pleased to introduce a new role within our Regulatory and Strategic Planning team for an Energy Transition Managerbased at our offices in Thorpe Park in Leeds.

This exciting opportunity is essential to establish, either singularly through NGN, or collaboratively across the GDN, Transmission organisations and DESNZ, clear evidence that enables comprehensive gas decarbonisation and support the transition to a net zero future.

You will undertake pivotal and challenging collaborations, research, development, and innovation and will be an ambassador for change. 
This will include the identification, preparation, submission, and delivery of System Transformation projects from the GDN, Transmission and DESNZ Hydrogen sub-group, which in turn will support the NGN decarbonisation and whole system strategy.  

Your key accountabilities and responsibilities will include
• Management and delivery of innovation by identifying suitable projects to support the NGN energy systems transition to deliver outputs to provide evidence relating to the future of gas, customer and societal needs.  Responsibility for the research, innovation and demonstration projects singularly through NGN or through collaboration wider GDN, Transmission and DESNZ colleagues.  All of these activities carry a broad focus across the energy systems transition, with challenges linked to customer, digital, and all energy [gas, electricity, oil etc.] / water, communications, driven from a whole systems approach
• You will create action plans to address key areas for improvement in response to focus areas that are identified through internal engagement with the energy futures team
• Creation of business cases for potential research, innovation, and demonstration projects [collaborative or singularly], which are generated across all areas of NGN business activities or wider industry activities proposed to the business by third parties via a multitude of methods such as calls for innovation
• Ensure that all projects, under your remit, are managed and delivered in line with the NGN processes, and are aligned with NGN requirements and that all eligibility and governance requirements both internal and external are met
• Accountable for the preparation and presentation of knowledge dissemination material to support broad stakeholder engagement, research, innovation, and knowledge transfer to wider organisations across all internal and external funding mechanisms, for instance, the annual innovation conference, IGEM annual national conference, etc

What we are looking for in our Energy Transition Manager
• Ability to demonstrate technical knowledge and experience of successful project planning and co-ordination on a range of work types
• Demonstrate previous positive work / engagement with external stakeholders such as Local enterprise partnerships, DESNZ, Academia. [positive engagement, reputational management, 
• Minimum of two years’ experience working in the energy industry
• Able to develop clear and concise presentation material, and present such in a conference setting
• Able to demonstrate clear strategic thinking and develop reports to articulate such
• Good knowledge of the challenges of climate change and decarbonisation
• Understanding of appropriate legislative, regulatory requirements, company policies and procedures
• The ability to support and encourage safe working behaviours and practices
• Has knowledge of how to work across teams to safely, successfully deliver programmes of works to achieve value and programme targets
• Your recognised training or qualifications of a technical nature alongside Health and Safety, Environmental and project management would be highly advantageous
