An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our Bridge Engineering team. You will work with a variety of partners, customers, and clients on the delivery of a professional service that maximises resources and delivers positive outcomes.

You will be responsible for management of the Council’s road structure assets such as bridges and retaining walls. You will assist the Team Leader in managing the inspection and assessment regime, carrying out Technical Approval of new structures on public roads, managing Abnormal Indivisible Load movements and developing, prioritising and delivering a program of capital and revenue works to ensure a safe and well maintained road structures stock.

With an HNC in Civil Engineering or relevant subject, and ideally Chartered Membership of an appropriate Institution, you will have significant knowledge and experience in a relevant field. You must have a proven track record of delivering projects and service priorities, including the ability to achieve project milestones and targets. You must be able to demonstrate proven experience of developing successful working relationships with contractors and professional service providers and in NEC contract management. Ideally, you will have demonstrable experience in asset management, and budgetary experience including preparation, monitoring and control arrangements.

You will be business and customer focused with a demonstrable record of, identifying opportunities, achieving outcomes, managing change, and exercising strong leadership skills. You will be self-motivated with a flexible and collaborative approach to work and have the ability to cope with multiple and changing demands whilst meeting tight deadlines. You will also have a sound understanding and knowledge of relevant legislation, codes of practice and initiatives.

With excellent organisational and IT skills, you will be able to utilise various Microsoft Office packages and AutoCAD software, and be a clear written and verbal communicator, with the ability to analyse information and produce reports.

You will be joining a dynamic and flexible team within Infrastructure and Transportation, who currently operate an agile model of home-working and office-based work at locations within North Lanarkshire. You will be required to travel throughout North Lanarkshire to undertake the duties of this post.

Work Pattern:

35 Hours Per Week

Monday to Thursday - 08:45 to 16:45

Friday - 08:45 to 16:15
