Salary: £21,854 plus excellent Gatwick benefits

The Opportunity -

Are you passionate about Engineering? Gatwick Airport is now looking for exceptional Engineering Apprentices to join our world class Apprenticeship Programme.

As a Gatwick Airport Engineering Apprentice, you will undertake full technical training in Engineering Maintenance through a combination of studying at college and hands on application of learning in the workplace. This is a four-year apprenticeship which is built up of studying at college full time during year one, and then day release study through years two to four. College work is combined with working on exciting, challenging, and innovative projects across our programmes, such as Airfield, HVAC, Baggage, Shuttles, Transport Engineering, Specialist Systems and Life Safety Systems. Successful completion of your apprenticeship will guide you to becoming a fully qualified Engineering Technician with industry standard recognised qualifications.

Gatwick Airport is a fantastic and unique place to work, presenting opportunities to grow with innovative technology adoption and continual passenger growth. As an Engineering Apprentice you will work within the Engineering team, with a full insight into exactly what it takes to run the world's busiest single runway airport.

Can I be part of the Gatwick Apprenticeship 2024 Programme?

To qualify for this fantastic opportunity, you will:

  • Have actual or predicted GCSE Level 4/5 or above in Maths, English and a Science Subject

Some testimonials from our current Engineering Apprentices:

Finlay Toner, Engineering Apprentice

This apprenticeship has been amazing! At first, I was introduced to the others who were accepted onto the apprenticeship who are now some of my closest friends, I was then given tours around each department meeting some of the technicians on the job and was also shown around the college where I have spent my first year on the apprenticeship. And this was all just in the first week!

The first year at college teaches you practical skills such as welding, machining and hand fitting whilst also backing you up with the theory knowledge alongside it. Combining this with having the opportunity to work at Gatwick during the half terms and being able to work in company with highly trained technicians puts you in the best possible position to succeed in this field.

Next Steps

  • Please send your CV and personal statement highlighting your passion around why you want to be an apprentice at Gatwick Airport
  • If you are successful, you will be asked to deliver a presentation as well as take part in a short (non-interactive) video interview.
  • Role will commence September 2024

Application closing date : Sunday 10th March 2024
