Job Purpose:
We have a new exciting opportunity for an Engineering Apprentice to be part of the maintenance team at Häfele UK located in Rugby, Warwickshire. The role will be employed on a full time (38.75 Hours per week) contract. The position will include day release to attend college to complete modules to support the apprenticeship.
The role will involve working on and not limited to automated PLC systems, pallet and tote conveyors, cranes, robots, pneumatic systems and hydraulic systems within the warehouse, there will also be elements of building infrastructure maintenance to enhance the teaching and use of different skills. During your development you will learn about PLC systems, Profibus systems, ASIbus systems, barcode scanners, electrical and mechanical fault diagnosis.
The role will be hands-on whilst being supervised to ensure that the equipment is maintained in safe and functional order. There will be a working at height requirement on cranes up to 25m in height, training and all PPE will be provided.
Due to insurance requirements, there is a minimum age of 18 years of age to work in the warehouse.
Annual leave would have to be taken outside of the college terms, to ensure that crucial college learning isn’t missed.
Key Responsibilities:
- Engineering fault support and repairs
- Use of the CMMS system for fault reporting, spare parts usage
- To assist with planned maintenance tasks and that they are completed on schedule
- To ensure that all key performance indicators (KPI’s) and /or objectives set with your Line Manager are performed effectively and within target and agreed parameters
- To adhere to the Company’s policies and procedures and ensure that you respect and adhere to these with regards to health and safety, minimisation of waste, care of the environment, equality of opportunity and elimination of discrimination and unfair treatment
- To undertake any other duties as may be required from time to time by your Line manager
- To attend college on day release and pass modules in expected time frames
The apprenticeship:
We are offering a 4-year course where you will be working towards the Modern Apprenticeship Framework (level 3) standards for Engineering Technician - Mechatronics Maintenance. Training is a split between the college and the workplace, on the job training will be carried out in the warehouse alongside your senior colleagues who will coach and mentor you daily to help to gradually grow and develop your skillset. College will be 1 day per week and is in Leamington Spa This will provide the opportunity to meet and develop relationships with other apprentices.
You will be required to travel to both Hafele UK, Swift Valley Industrial Estate CV21 1RD and Trident Park, Poseidon Way, Royal Leamington Spa, Warwick CV34 6SW to be able to complete on the job learning and attend college.
During your apprenticeship you will be expected to build a portfolio to show your learning progress, which will display all your training and experience gained during your apprenticeship.
Your salary will be reviewed annually through out your apprenticeship too.

Desired Skills
The successful candidate will need to be able to demonstrate a keen interest in Engineering and desire to fix things, these are equally as important as the academic requirements.
- A willingness to learn and work to appropriate health & safety standards and regulations
- GCSE English and Math Grade C or 4 and above
- A willingness to learn in an operational warehouse and at college to ensure that best engineering practices are carried out
- You are able to read, understand and communicate, interact and engage with people at all levels of the business
- You can follow a list of guidelines and instructions (verbal or written) to deliver results and meet deadlines
- You have a hands-on attitude, flexible, adaptable and proactive
- You seek and respond well to feedback
- You have flexibility in working hours and shift patterns to provide cover for operational requirements.

This position is full time and hours of work are 9:300am to 5:30pm, Monday to Friday with 45 minutes for lunch. Site cover during holidays and sickness when required 07:00 – 15:30 & 11:30 – 20:00.
