Our Castle Donington Clothing & Home Distribution Centre plays a key part in our ability to deliver what our customers want, when they need it. As an Apprentice you'll be right at the heart of this operation, working with some of the most sophisticated technologies in the industry. Our site currently consists of over 17 kilometres of automated conveyors, 39 fully automated cranes and more to come in with the future expansion!
This is an outstanding opportunity to enroll on our apprenticeship programme which is like no other as with the support of M&S and Toyota Manufacturing UK the programme you will gain a minimum level 3 qualification as a Mechatronics Maintenance Technician specialising in the use of hand tools, welding, machining, mechanical transmission systems, fluid power, robotics, electronics and much more!
Summary of the Apprenticeship
Stage 1:Year 1 & 2: Toyota Motor Manufacturing, Burnaston, Derbyshire, DE1 9TA
For the first 22 months, the apprenticeship is mainly based in the Toyota academy at Burnaston. During this time they will cover the technical skills and theory required for a career in Maintenance. This will include:
- Theoretical LVL3 training
- Practical LVL2 skills training
- Onsite placement weeks
The placement weeks will be at our M&S distribution centre in Castle Donington so you can gain hands on experience putting the theory you have learnt into practice. It will cover specialised subjects such as electrical principles, electronics, welding, machining, mechanical drives, control systems and fluid power.
Stage 2:Year 3 & 4: Marks & Spencer, Arundel Ave, Castle Donnington DE74 2HJ
For the final 22 months, you will be permanently based on site at M&S, working within a 24/7 maintenance team, learning how to apply your new skills. This time will be split between the days-based asset team and the 24/7 shift teams. To give you experience across our 3 primary areas of:-
- Crane Storage
- Boxed item automation
- Hanging item automation
You will be required to complete the NVQ LVL3 proficiency qualification, demonstrating the knowledge gained during year one and two. For those who want to develop their expertise further, there will also be an opportunity to complete a LVL4 HNC alongside the NVQ LVL3 in an engineering subject area which differs from other Apprenticeships. Entry requirements: To apply you must have or be expecting 4 GCSEs' at grade ‘4’ or above including Maths, English and Science (or equivalent).
