Butler Ross have partnered with a leading manufacturing company to source a Engineering Buyer working on site in Cheltenham. This is a more technical role that will focus on the engineering side of procurement, meaning they are looking for a skilled communicator to join them who has experience in the procurement of technical manufacturing goods and components.
This role is 100& office based in Cheltenham.
Duties of the Engineering Buyer
- Responsible for managing the RFQ process to secure competitive bids and working towards achieving best price for goods and services.
- Working closely with engineering teams, understanding their requirements, and building a rapport and acting as the primary contact in the procurement team.
- Evaluating and reviewing suppliers to be able to convert purchase demand into purchase orders, ensuring they suppliers have the correct capacity, the best price and track record to fulfil requirement.
- Maintaining ERP/MRP system, ensuring BoM, data and parts are all up to date and correct.
- Negotiating terms with suppliers and ensuring they can meet delivery, cost, and quality requirements for the company.
- Travel to UK based suppliers, roughly 10% of the time.
Experience required for the Engineering Buyer
- Previous experience as procurement professional in a busy manufacturing environment.
- Experience purchasing complex mechanical components.
- Able to read and understand engineering drawings.
- Excellent supplier management skills including reviewing, negotiating, selection and onboarding.
- Strong IT skills including Microsoft Office & ERP/MRP system.
- Team oriented but still able to motivate yourself.
- Able to work collaboratively across a range of internal teams and suppliers.
Salary: 40,000 - 45,000
