Engineering Lead - Product Discovery

Wise is one the fastest growing companies in Europe and we're on a mission: to make money without borders the new normal. We've got 15 million customers across the globe and we're growing. Fast.
Current banking systems don't let us send, spend or receive money across borders easily. Or quickly. Or cheaply.
So, we're building a new one and we're looking for a talented Engineering Leadto join the mission.
Wise has already pioneered new ways for people to transfer money across borders and currencies. Our customers can also manage their hard-earned money with the world's first platform to offer true multi-currency banking.
The team you'll be working with: Product Discovery
Product Discovery looks after our logged out product pages - the "shop window" of Wise. You've probably already seen the main one - wise.com .
First impressions matter - and by joining the team, you'll play a crucial role in shaping the first impressions of millions of people discovering Wise for the first time. You'll help prospective customers understand what the Wise mission is, and how we can help solve their problems. Your impact will be across three pillars:
Comprehension - Do people understand the products we offer, and how it might benefit them?
Localisation - Do we position our product offering in the right way for the right markets and customer segments?
Trust - Does the way we represent Wise inspire people's trust?
As an Engineering Lead, you will:

• Collaborate with product, design, and other teams across the company to deliver impactful outcomes as a team,
• Be responsible for the overall health and productivity of the engineers within your team - and help them grow to be their best selves,
• Own the availability and scalability of our logged-out product pages, and how we build them going forward,
• Provide feedback on technical design decisions and approach, and help the team make data-driven decisions,
• Have an overview of what's happening within the broader Onboarding space, and thinking about engineering as a whole,
• Understand the teams' systems deeply enough to be hands on, when needed.

Is that you?

• Experience leading, coaching and mentoring driven and high performing teams
• A strong product mindset and passion for user experience - you prioritize work with customers in mind and make data-driven decisions to fix customer pain points
• Great communication skills and the ability to articulate complex, technical concepts to non-technical audiences
• Experience working with React based frontend applications, Javascript / Typescript
• Experience building and designing scalable and performant systems
• Ability to break down complex projects into incremental milestones that deliver customer value

...but don't worry we don't expect you to know everything!
Nice to have bonuses:

• Experience with Content Management Systems, and concepts such as headless CMS,
• Experience working with / creating / extending design systems,
• Experience with Java, Spring Boot backend technologies, and event-driven microservices architectures

We offer a salary range of 95,000-130,000GBP annual + an RSU package vesting over a period of 4 years.
