Engineering Manager:
Our client is looking for an Engineering Manager
The candidate will be expected to work with and lead our client s design team, managing the workflow through their office and ensuring compliance with all latest design codes and standards.
Undertaking structural designs and surveys on a diverse portfolio of domestic and commercial projects, ranging from simple internal alterations to more prestigious new dwelling and commercial developments.
The key tasks required in the role will be:
- Commit to the clients mission statement and philosophy.
- Manage the workflow within the office ensuring that all projects are delivered on schedule and within budget.
- Quality assurance checking of all projects to ensure that they are technically correct and compliant with all latest design codes, standards and guidelines.
- Support and mentor other members of the design team, in particular our graduate engineers and design technicians.
- Reviewing architectural drawings and preparing fee proposals for new projects.
- Responding to and resolving queries from site in a timely manner.
- Undertaking site visits to assess projects and determine load arrangements onto various structural elements
The successful individual will:
- Have a comprehensive understanding of all the technical elements of structural engineering
- Have an in-depth knowledge and understanding and knowledge of Tekla Tedds, Tekla Structural Designer, AutoCAD and Microsoft Office. Knowledge of Bentley Systems STAAD software is also preferable.
- Have a minimum of 15 years relevant experience working in the domestic, residential and commercial sectors. Previous experience within a similar management role will be preferable.
- Be degree qualified, to a minimum level of B.Eng,
- Have professional membership of the Institute of Structural Engineers and or Institute of Civil Engineers.
- Have an understanding of the Highways Approval in Principle, AIP, process.
- Knowledge of basic drainage design is preferable, but not essential.
- Have an in-depth knowledge and understanding of all relevant British Standard and European design codes.
- Have an understanding of the requirements under the CDM Regulations 2015 and health and safety regulations.
- Be diligent, self-motivated and be able to work individually and as part of a team.
- Have excellent organisational and time management skills.
- Be a great and effective communicator, be well presented and have a considerate and courteous manner.
- Have an ability to work to tight deadlines whilst also showing and ability to adapt to changing circumstances.
- Be a good problem solver, creative and have an ability to think outside the box
- Be willing to learn, and develop not only their technical skills but also themselves personally.
- Have a clean driving licence
