Engineering Manager - Bespoke Products
We have an exciting opportunity for an Engineering Manager to join our team in the beautiful Peak District National Park. As an integral part of the Engineering team, you will manage and oversee all functions of customer specific developments, define the design and oversee the project management of Bespoke Products. We design and manufacture our own products on site and take great pride in supporting the needs of our clients on a global basis.
Responsibilities & what to expect:
- Managing, mentoring and leading a team of Mechanical and Electrical Engineers whilst supporting their continuous professional development.
- Ensuring an efficient, coherent and collaborative approach to all activities in order to meet and exceed customer requirements.
- Ensuring that our products are fit for purpose, fully functional, cost effective, high quality, and safe.
- Continuous assessment and evaluation of the needs of our global customer base; ensuring that our customers needs are always at the heart of all our Engineering process and services.
- Leading and role modelling innovative solutions in order to drive and deliver improvements for our customers.
- Ensuring that the Engineering teams are accountable for designing and producing products of the highest quality which adhere to strict reliability standards.
- Recognise and proactively address potential challenges inherent in projects, encompassing technical, financial, and schedule-related risks.
- Liaise with a wide customer base in academia and other various industries to provide opportunities to collaborate with experts from multiple areas/sectors.
- Leading process improvements for the continuous development of the Engineering procedures and practices to increase efficiency and quality.
Key skills and qualifications:
- Educated to a minimum of Degree level in Mechanical Engineering, or a similar discipline.
- Solid and proven experience in successfully leading multi-discipline Engineering functions.
- Strong leadership and communication skills.
- Ability to form effective relationships, with a variety of stakeholders (production, sales, purchase, management).
- 2D/3D-CAD-System literate.
- Good knowledge of mechanisms, gearing, basic pneumatics.
- Good knowledge of designing for welding and fabrication.
- A natural leader, motivator, and inspirer.
