Location - East Cowes Isle of Wight or Southampton


This is an extremely exciting opportunity for an ambitious individual to lead a highly skilled team to provide engineering excellence within the manufacture of state-of-the-art high-speed aluminium vessels. You will have the opportunity of collaborating with key stakeholders, providing your engineering expertise, anticipating issues and trouble-shooting as we work together to push the boundaries of what is possible within the industry.


You will motivate and engage your team in striving for the most efficient and high-quality engineering outcomes which will contribute to the continued success of our thriving and fast-growing shipbuilding company.


The ideal candidate will have managed a team and have worked within shipbuilding/Marine manufacturing environment however candidates with general industrial engineering management experience will be considered.

Collaboration and team working skills will be critical as you will be working with stakeholders throughout the business to ensure the projects are delivered to a high quality on time.


This is a critical role where you will have the scope to make a real impact on the business.

We are specialists in aluminium shipbuilding, offering high-quality, tailored services to operators across a variety of maritime sectors. From the manufacture of multi-hull fast ferries to highly specialised workboats and crew transfer vessels.


With first class managerial, design and technical expertise, we have achieved exceptional success in the fast ferry sector, delivering high-performance cutting-edge designs and the most comfortable passenger accommodation in fuel-efficient hull forms.


We started life in 2010 as Shemara Refit LLP. Since then, the business has grown exponentially and in 2016 was renamed Wight Shipyard Co (WSC), sealing our future as a clear and recognisable Island based company. Under our new identity, we delivered Red Funnel’s 41m fast ferries, Red Jet 6 and 7 and four new 40mhigh speed craft for London’s Thames Clippers.


In 2022, we merged with OCEA, a French based international shipbuilding company to establish their UK base of operations and to to capitalise on the fast ferry and offshore renewable energy markets. 


In 2022, we delivered the world’s first hybrid, surface-effect crew transfer vessel, the C-Wind Pioneer. A highly technical project, this propelled the business into the offshore crew transfer market and broadened the scope of Wight Shipyard’s capabilities. Wight Shipyard Company now have an extensive back catalogue of vessels delivered to customers globally and are looking forward to an exciting time ahead.


Located in East Cowes on Isle of Wight, with offices in Southampton. WSC has a bright future, with plans to expand and with this, provides a fantastic opportunity for talented candidates to flourish.
