Location: Based in Uxbridge Middlesex with 21 people and a turnover approaching £10m.
Position:Engineering Operations Manager, reporting to Operations and Sales Manager.
Hours: Monday – Friday | 9am – 5pm
Job description
As an Engineering Operations Manager, you will play a pivotal role in overseeing and optimizing the operational aspects of the engineering department within the organization. You will be responsible for coordinating and streamlining various processes to ensure the efficient functioning of the CinemaNext engineering team. This role involves a combination of strategic planning, project management, and team leadership to drive operational excellence.
Key responsibilities
Strategic Planning:
- Collaborate with senior management to develop and implement strategic goals for the Engineering Operations aligned with the overall business objectives.
- Analyze current operational processes and identify areas for improvement, efficiency gains, and cost savings.
Process Optimization:
- Evaluate and enhance existing engineering workflows and procedures to increase productivity and quality.
- Implement best practices and industry standards to optimize operational efficiency.
- Identify and address bottlenecks or inefficiencies in project development and execution.
Resource Management:
- Work closely with the Operations Manager to ensure appropriate staffing levels, and recruit, onboard, and develop engineering talent.
- Allocate resources effectively to meet project deadlines and business priorities.
- Monitor and manage the utilization of engineering resources to maximize productivity.
Project Management:
- Oversee project planning, execution, and delivery within the engineering department.
- Ensure projects are completed on time, within scope, and within budget.
- Implement project management tools and methodologies to improve project tracking and reporting.
Collaboration and Communication:
- Foster collaboration between cross-functional teams, promoting a culture of teamwork and information sharing.
- Communicate effectively with stakeholders, providing updates on project status, timelines, and potential issues.
Quality Assurance:
- Implement quality control measures to ensure engineering deliverables meet or exceed established standards.
- Establish and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to track the quality of Engineering Operations.
Risk Management:
- Identify and mitigate potential risks associated with engineering projects and operations.
- Develop contingency plans to address unforeseen challenges and disruptions.
Budget Oversight:
- Collaborate with finance teams to develop and manage the Engineering Operations budget.
- Monitor and control expenses to ensure adherence to budgetary constraints.
Continuous Improvement:
- Champion a culture of continuous improvement, encouraging feedback and innovation within the engineering team.
- Implement and drive initiatives for ongoing professional development and training.
Qualifications and skills
- Proven experience in Engineering Operations or a related managerial role.
- Strong understanding of operational processes, project management, and quality assurance.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Proficient in project management tools and methodologies.
- Strategic thinking with the ability to balance short-term and long-term goals.
- Familiarity with industry best practices and emerging trends in Engineering Operations.
