Description
We manufacture precision sheet metalwork products for the aerospace, communications and electronics industries. An Engineering Operative apprentice would be learning production worker skills within all areas on the manufacturing facility. The apprentice would report directly to the supervisor of that department.
Main Duties:
- Metal surface finishing
- Masking and pre-paint preparation
- Fastener insertion on a Haeger machine
- Learning to master the use of pillar drills for drilling, countersinking and tapping, metal treatments and machine metal forming.
Entry requirements
Ideally grades 4-9 in English and Maths GCSE.
Training to be provided
- The learner will be studying the Engineering Operative Level 2 Apprenticeship Standard qualification.
- Day release to West Suffolk College.
- Functional skills will be studied if equivalent qualifications are not held.
This role will be very varied. It will give the apprentice a very wide range of skills to well equip them for the future. It will teach them the foundations of the precision manufacturing process and the attention to detail required to produce the required finish.
