As the Engineering Practice Lead, you will have management oversight and control of the Primark Channels Technical Operations, supporting the two key business sales avenues.
In this role, you will facilitate an increase in quality and reliability, and you will also provide a Channels Product Engineering and Engineering Enablement practice that delivers changes to the products in use.

What You'll Do:
In your role, you'll collaborate with different people across a range of skill sets. Here's a flavour of your day-to-day:
  • Accountable for all aspects of Channels Technical Operations using ITIL processes and reporting.
  • Oversee the Reliability Engineering team, providing direction and prioritisation, and reviewing performance.
  • Input into 3rd party management/review - including contract shaping and negotiation.
  • Provide a Product Engineering capability and Engineering Enablement capability that delivers Primark Channels Product vision.
  • Drive Engineering quality.
  • Ensure that changes determined by operational need is correctly fed in and prioritised within the Product Backlog.
  • Encourage a culture of knowledge sharing and documentation.
  • Put customer and business impact first.
  • Encourage a culture of continuous improvement and personal development through post-mortems and data focus.
What You'll Bring

  • An appropriate degree, equivalent qualification, or experience
  • Be a passionate and visionary technologist able to inspire others to challenge and disrupt the current reality to co-create a compelling technology-orientated future business by:
  1. being able to scan potential technologies (established, emerging and emergent)
  2. finding ways to translate that into business opportunities.
  3. most importantly, you can take people along with you, empowering new ways of working and positively implementing those opportunities.
  • Solid background in software engineering with many years of experience in a variety of systems and technologies.
  • Experience building and leading teams of highly skilled software engineers that deliver high-quality software.
  • Great understanding of system design, software architecture, cloud, and software engineering standard methodologies.
  • Specialist in Agile, lean and DevOps with a keen interest in open-source technologies.
  • Good understanding of testing strategies and reliability engineering.
  • Confident in driving system design conversations, ensuring software systems are built correctly.
  • Experience in enterprise-grade software deployments and operations.
  • Experience with the public cloud.
