Our Humber region is comprised for 4 ports in Hull, Goole, Grimsby and Immingham. Each port is unique in it's make up and the benefit it brings to the UK, and therefore offers their own engineering approach - whether the largest UK port by tonnage in Immingham to the one of the great historical ports of the UK in Grimsby. We're currently looking to recruit an Engineering Programme Manager to head up our projects team for the region. With overall responsibility for asset management projects up to £20m and managing a team of 7 project engineers, you'll have demonstrable knowledge of OPEX project delivery within a large mixed purpose industrial environment

 

You'll be responsible for leading the overall direction of engineering projects team which encompasses Civil, Mechanical or Electrical technical disciplines. You'll ensure the team has an aligned and agreed view of their performance delivery expectations and of their role within the projects team. You'll provide leadership and coaching to the team and be responsible for their CPD, reviews and that the team is motivated and mentored to a high standard.

Key Responsibilities 
-  Ensure projects have detailed plans articulating scope, concept and project design, along with consideration of risk with relevant plans to manage and minimise the risk. 

-  Prepare and supervise the preparation of tender documentation/specifications and lead contract and contractor management. 

-  Work closely with other ABP departments, customers, Government Agencies and Planning Authorities.

-  Controlling contractors, consultants and legal advisors involved in the projects, ensuring quality and programme adherence.

-  Work with Asset Managers and the Head of Engineering and Asset Management to provide technical support and advice in relation to the capital investment plan. To include providing recommendations, feasibility studies, specifications, cost and timeline estimates.

-  Management and control of the capital expenditure budget, ensuring project finances are measured and tracked against the approved project budget. Reconciling spend versus budget on a regular basis and as required show actual spend, committed spend and estimate to completion. Also ensuring potential cost saving ideas do not adversely affect the overall quality of the project and/or its delivery. 

-  Promote a successful Health & Safety culture, striving towards the company’s Beyond Zero behavioural safety ambitions and acting as a role model for this. Ensuring compliance with Health, Safety & Environment policies & procedures at all times.
