Job description

AWE is at the start of once-in-a-generation work programmes that will ensure we protect the UK's safety and security for many decades to come. We are seeking ambitious and motivated Engineers and Scientists, at all career stages, to join our team and contribute to our mission, at Space Park Leicester.

Location: Leicester

Salary: £30,000-£60,000 p/a (depending upon skills & experience)

To support our growing technical programmes to meet this mission, we have an exciting array of roles at Space Park Leicester. Here you will have the opportunity to work on activities such as:

  • Developing novel test & evaluation methods and apply to the qualification of a space systems
  • Developing qualified embedded control systems
  • Concept development and testing
  • Developing flight reference bodies
  • Material development & testing
  • Radiation physics diagnostic development
  • Aero-thermal analysis and material development
  • Advanced component manufacturing.
  • Mechanical design of our nuclear and conventional infrastructure buildings
  • Human factor techniques and methodologies
  • Nuclear and safety risk management in a challenging environment
  • Developing the electrical, control and instrumentation systems that will be the digital backbone of our modern future facilities.
  • Civil, structural and architectural design for our exciting new facilities
  • Commissioning and decommissioning on a nuclear licensed site

What Opportunities are there at Space Park Leicester?

We have exciting opportunities for Engineers and Scientists to join AWE at Space Park Leicester. This will include:

  • Work within the Space & Nuclear technical domain, including opportunities for candidates at all stages of their career.
  • Work focussed on the satellite and cube-sat projects where there are opportunities to get involved with the development of components for space.
  • Gaining experience in advanced environmental testing techniques, model-based qualification approaches, design and integration of hardware as well as getting the opportunity to be involved in fundamental science associated with designing for unique space environments.
  • Working as part of a diverse team on our exciting infrastructure engineering projects.
  • Using your leadership, experience and strategic thinking to lead engineering teams

What are the role requirements for interested candidates?

  • A solid technical background in Science or Engineering or other equivalent STEM subject.
  • Ability to demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to team well with others, be collaborative and look for opportunities to influence other parts of AWE to simplify our processes.
  • A passion for innovation and staying up to date with industry trends and emerging technologies.
  • An ability to analyse complex technical challenges and propose effective solutions.
