Engineering Shift Manager

The main purpose of this role is to supervise and ensure all of Maintenance Engineering (Electrical and Mechanical) activities on site are completed accurately and on time and assist the coordination and completion of Planned and Reactive Maintenance and corrective actions across all company machinery and assets.

What will your key responsibilities as an Engineering Shift Manager include?

• Ensure All H&S policies and procedures are followed, and professional standards maintained at all times.
• Supervise the department’s daily operation for your shift.
• Manage and participate in the completion of the assigned preventative maintenance to ensure departmental and Operational KPI’s are met.
• Successfully identify and implement improvements to the preventative maintenance plans to make them more effective.
• Communicate breakdowns and repairs, ensuring Engineering handover report completed in a timely manner.
• Ensure all team toolboxes are logged and that the workshop areas is left clean and tidy ready for the next shift. Responsible for control and management of tools allocated to the Shift.
• Support major repairs as necessary to ensure downtime is minimised.
• Order parts throughout the shift in close liaison with stores manager and external suppliers. Processes followed and costs in budget.
• Booking in and out of all stock
• Identify efficiency opportunities and improvements to plant to enhance operation productivity.
• Ensure company procedures, legislation and good working practices are adhered too.
• Main point of contact for contractors on shift, ensure appropriate permits are in place (general works, hot works, WAH). Supervise all works carried out.
• Equipment set up ready for shift start, performs at required output and ensure lines are shut down correctly. Ensure attendance at all SICs during the shift period.
• Workshop and outside areas are maintained to a high standard, regular checks are conducted and satisfactory feedback is received from GMP audits.
• Produce Engineering Shift Report at the weekends.

Details of the role:

• Lead, manage and develop a shift of Engineers and Apprentices. Identify the training needs of your Shift in order to coach, train and develop the team to provide the opportunities to develop and progress to their full potential.
• Review data on equipment effectiveness, review PPMs and coordinate inclusion of jobs on daily and weekend plans.
• Lead and support improvements projects and initiatives.

What you’ll need to be successful:

• 5 years experience of FMCG or similar environment.
• Self-motivated attitude with the ability to multi-task and thrive in a timeline-driven environment.
• Interpersonal communication skills
• Ability to work individually or as part of a team.

Desirable:

• Experience in Engineering supervision / leadership
• NEBOSH or IOSH
• Experience of a fast-paced food environment.
• Electrical / Mechanical experience
