Be-IT are delighted to be partnering with their logistics client based in Edinburgh on the lookout for an Engineering Team Lead to join their team.

Our client was founded in Edinburgh in 2000 and has since grown from strength to strength becoming a leading provider of cloud-based logistics software. Not only are they on a mission to simplify the complex problems which arise in the logistics sector, they are also committed to ensuring their clients are as efficient as possible both from accost and ecological perspective.

About the role:

You will be at the forefront of guiding a group of Software Engineers, spanning from junior to senior levels, ensuring meticulous planning and effective communication of their tasks, while promptly addressing and resolving any identified obstacles.  This role will be a blend of people management and technical leadership – their technology stack includes PHP & JavaScript – however they are open to experience of all languages!

Responsibilities:

  • Overseeing the day-to-day operations of an Engineering Team using Agile methodologies
  • Actively guiding and mentoring team members in a positive and constructive manner
  • Ensuring the production of high-quality, secure, and functional code by the team
  • Monitoring team velocity and identifying impediments to continuous improvement.
  • Assigning suitable tasks to team members to facilitate smooth workflow.
  • Collaborating with Product and Customer Success Teams to prioritize and schedule the team's workload.
  • Providing regular Sprint updates and reports on team progress
  • Engaging in coding as needed to contribute to the team's deliverables.

Experience Required:

  • A commitment to ongoing enhancement of both technical expertise and interpersonal abilities
  • Demonstrated proficiency in mentoring fellow engineers
  • In-depth comprehension of programming languages and adherence to best practices
  • Exceptional communication prowess
  • Aptitude for shepherding a project from inception to completion
  • Robust problem-solving capabilities
