Job description

About the Role This is a truly rewarding role, working with students and directly seeing the impact of your work on a daily basis.  You will work within the English and maths department as part of the team and will enjoy a supportive work environment. A key element of the role is to liaise with Curriculum staff to secure the best possible educational outcomes for students studying maths and English, helping them to overcome barriers to learning in order to achieve their full potential. In this role you will carry out the following key duties: Facilitate small group sessions (no more than 5) and 1:1 maths and English coaching sessions. This can be during normal lessons alongside tutors and separate small group sessions. Support learners to develop their digital literacy skills to enable them to maximise their full potential by ensuring they can confidently access, save and navigate their way around their digital learning environment. Encourage learners to be responsible for their own learning to enable them to be successful in all aspects of their life. Report on learner progress against starting point assessments, using individual ILPs to monitor/action any other interventions needed. Demonstrate creativity and innovation in developing materials, methods and approaches to suit learner needs. We know that ex and retired teachers have a plethora of knowledge and skills in working with young people or perhaps you have enjoyed a fulfilling career as an educator and want something new, or you have been out of education for a while and realise how much you miss it.   You will hold a level 2 (or above) in English and Maths, a university classified degree at 2:2 (or higher). You should be an excellent communicator and have a good working knowledge and use of digital technologies.
