We are currently looking for Entry Level Forensic Laboratory Scientiststo join our Forensic Laboratory Operations department based at our Chorley Laboratory to undertake a broad range of examination of Forensic exhibits using presumptive tests and/or perform laboratory analysis on Forensic samples following Standard Operating Procedures.
The suitable candidates will be educated to a minimum of ‘A’ Level or equivalent; preferably a degree in a scientific or analytical discipline. Previous laboratory experience will be an advantage but not essential for the role.
The successful applicant will have the ability to work to Good Laboratory Practice; have knowledge of Forensic Laboratory processes and techniques including DNA extraction, PCR and electrophoresis and capable of using standard software packages.
In light of the serious consequences of any error, you will require meticulous attention to detail, good concentration, accurate record-keeping; the ability to communicate clearly and concisely in both written and verbal forms and a concern for impact. You will also have the ability to work as part of a team in a fast-paced environment to strict deadlines.
The full-time working hours are 37.5 hours compressed into 4 days. The non-working day will rotate backwards on a five-week rotating shift pattern.
