Entry-Level Planning Engineer

Responsible to: Planning Manager

Salary: £28 - £32k

Purpose of the Job:

As an entry-level Planning Engineer, reporting directly to the Planning Manager, you will play a crucial role in optimizing manufacturing processes within our client's business units. You will ensure that the Production departments receive precise instructions and documentation, and help manage and maintain production schedules. The ideal candidate will be from a precision manufacturing/engineering background (ideally apprentice trained).

Job Overview:

• Accurately generate shopfloor production documentation packages for all manufactured parts, ensuring customer information and quality requirements are met.
• Enter manufacturing cycle times accurately for shopfloor scheduling.
• Load jobs onto the production schedule within the company’s ERP system and monitor shop floor loading.
• Validate details for purchasing raw materials that meet customer requirements.
• Amend existing documentation packages during work in progress when necessary.
• Review and update routings and documentation packages according to customer part revision changes.
• Continuously monitor and update manufacturing cycle times and methods.
• Gather information from the ERP system to generate reports for various departmental functions.
• Support the quotation function of the business when required.
• Provide technical support to other departments within the business units.
• Undertake any other roles within your capabilities as needed.

Key Relationships:

• Work closely with the sales and production departments.
• Communicate effectively with employees at all levels of the organization.

Knowledge & Experience:

Essential:

• Recognized Engineering Apprenticeship or Engineering HNC.
• Ability to read Engineering Drawings and understand customer specifications.
• Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
• Willingness to learn and develop as the company and role grow.

Desirable:

• Experience as a precision machinist.
• Hands-on machining experience, particularly with exotic alloys
• Knowledge of ERP systems
• Experience within the Oil & Gas industry and its quality requirements.
