u&u. Recruitment Partners has partnered with one of the UK's leading Water Infrastructure & Environmental Consultancies who are recruiting an Environmental Advisor to join their team!

Role Description:

The role provides a unique opportunity within a new and growing environment team at this consultancy as they look to deliver a range of deliverables outright and supporting their Directorates.

As this is an emerging team it will suit and require a self-starter environmentalist who is willing to work in multidisciplinary settings and can display an adaptability, problem-solving and growth mindset. The individual will contribute ideas and their specialist environmental skills, knowledge and experience to improve the functioning of the team, services therefore contributing to our three-year business strategy.

The role therefore offers the chance for real autonomy, challenge and fulfilment by simultaneously shaping their own career whilst contributing meaningful change at an organisational level.

Key responsibilities:

  • Complete qualitative and quantitative environmental tasks and activities as directed by senior individual(s) to time, cost and quality
  • Produce and review environmental deliverables for client issue to time, cost and quality.
  • Liaise with project teams, clients, stakeholders and the public as required and demonstrating leadership and management behaviours.
  • Proactively identify, develop and maintain strong client relationships with new and existing clients converting into fee earning opportunities.
  • Work with the Senior Natural Assets and Associate Director of Asset Management to develop the Environment Team, Key Service Offerings and supporting governance, P&Ps.
  • Lead on and contribute to the development of the Environment Team SharePoint systems, environmental information and data.
  • Lead on and contribute to internal company and external client meetings.
  • Lead on and contribute to business development activities including but not limited to: bids, proposals, tenders, marketing and publicity content.

Skills & Experience:

  • A water-environmental related undergraduate degree and preferably postgraduate degree in relevant discipline.
  • 3+ years of experience of water-environmental management in the water or other asset owning sectors.
  • Chartered Environmentalist (CEnv) and/or Chartered Water and Environmental Manager (C.WEM) or sufficient evidence demonstrating progression to chartership is a feasible short-term objective (within 6 month probationary period).
  • Working knowledge and evidenced application and track record in several of the following discipline and delivery areas: environmental regulation and business (investment) planning, environmental assessments, environmental compliance of engineering and infrastructure design and delivery schemes, biodiversity net gain, natural capital accounting, nature-based solutions, blue-green infrastructure, catchment management, natural flood management, carbon accounting.
  • Technical proficiency in a relevant water-environment-sustainability method/tool/technique/assessment.
  • An understanding of interacting disciplines such as Asset Management, Engineering, Commercial and Strategic Advisory and evidenced experience of working and delivering successfully within multidisciplinary team.
  • Proficient with geospatial mapping (qGIS, ArcGIS etc)
  • Computer literate with Microsoft Office, Excel, Powerpoint.
  • Excellent communication, report writing, presentation and interpersonal skills in a consultancy setting.
  • Successful record of leading, managing and delivering with or without supervision, in order to meet tight deadlines and deliver well-planned work schedules in a fast-paced consultancy environment.
  • Experience of successful working with environmental and economic regulators (EA, NE, Ofwat) demonstrating leadership and management behaviours.
  • Ability to lead, manage and deliver independently and within a team displaying creativity, resilience, problem solving and working with ambiguity.
  • Experience supervising, delegating and reviewing the activities and outputs of junior environmental colleagues.
  • Demonstrable experience producing content, thought leadership or leadership and management experience to relevant outlets or groups (e.g professional organisation committees, special interest groups, community groups journals, magazines etc).
  • Hold a full UK driving licence and have a willingness to travel as part for client and service line needs.
