As the Environmental Incident Investigation Manager, you will provide strategic leadership to our Incident Investigation Team, overseeing the coordination of serious pollution Incident Investigations within our Clean Water and Wastewater operations.
You will play a pivotal role in managing technical aspects of Incident Investigation, and documentation, and driving continuous improvement across key business outputs. Additionally, you will maintain senior-level engagement with regulatory bodies and ensure compliance with environmental standards.
What you’ll be doing as an Environmental Incident Investigation Manager
  • Establish and promote a comprehensive understanding of serious pollution events throughout the organization, enhancing accountability and transparency.
  • Design and implement an effective Incident Investigation process for Clean Water & Wastewater incidents, ensuring timely environmental mitigation and action.
  • Conduct thorough investigations into incidents, compiling comprehensive reports and identifying areas for learning and improvement.
  • Lead the development and implementation of an effective 'Event Learning' process, facilitating senior incident reviews and tracking improvement actions.
  • Enhance training and competency levels within the team, implementing strategies to improve knowledge in legal processes, regulatory compliance, root cause analysis, and wastewater management.
  • Establish and maintain management systems to document working practices, ensuring transparency and supporting ongoing training needs.
  • Uphold health, safety, and wellbeing policies within your area of responsibility, ensuring adherence to HR policies and procedures.
  • Lead recruitment, training, and development initiatives to build a high-performing and competent team.
Base Location – Reading, Clearwater Court RG1 8DB.
What you should bring to the role
  • Degree or post-graduate level education in a relevant scientific discipline.
  • Scientific charter ship through a relevant awarding or working towards would be advantageous
  • Significant experience in wastewater quality, risk management, and project management.
  • Experience managing regulatory relationships is desirable.
  • Proven experience in people management and leadership.
  • Strong communication and influencing skills, both written and verbal.
  • Proficiency in complex IT systems and standard office software.
