About Us

The Health and Safety Executive is Britain’s national regulator for workplace health and safety. We’re dedicated to protecting people and places, ensuring everyone can lead safer and healthier lives at work.

The Chemicals Regulation Division (CRD) regulates pesticides, biocides, industrial and consumer chemicals, detergents, and the export of dangerous chemicals. The Division also seeks to prevent the adverse effects of chemicals on both people and the environment.

The CRD Environmental Teams evaluate the effectiveness of pesticides and biocides, how chemicals behave in the environment and what their environmental impacts are.

We are now looking for Environmental Regulatory Scientists to join our CRD Environmental Teams on a permanent, full-time basis.

The Benefits

  • Salary of £27,316 - £30,344 per annum
  • 25 days' annual holiday increasing to 30 days after 5 years' service, plus bank holidays and 1 day’s Civil Service privilege leave
  • Highly competitive Civil Service Pension Scheme
  • Family friendly policies and working hours
  • Carer friendly policies to help create a supportive working culture
  • Parental leave benefits
  • Learning and development tailored to your role
  • An environment with flexible working options

You will:

  • Apply your scientific knowledge to written technical evaluations
