The Role
The CSP Environmental Reporter will be expected to interpret and report on a range of primary and secondary aviation environmental data in relation to aviation noise, greenhouse gas emissions and local air quality. They will provide professional, accurate and accessible information for use by the CAA, for Government in the development of Environmental Reports and public policy and for use by technical and lay stakeholder audiences.
Core Accountabilities
- Write detailed official reports using primary and secondary data on the environmental impacts of aviation, using statistical knowledge to interpret and explain research findings to technical and lay audiences and adhering to CAA brand and drafting guidance.
- Undertake original numerical and textual analyses as required.
- Actively develop knowledge of, and capability to use, environmental impact principles, practices, and equipment.
- Actively contribute to the modernisation of systems, tools, and practices, with a view to raising efficiency and effectiveness (including data quality).
- Engage with a range of internal and external stakeholders, including industry and Government.
- Exhibit CAA’s values, including effective professional/personal development of self/colleagues.
About You
To be considered for this role you should have the following:
- Demonstrable experience of writing technical reports from varied data sources including statistical analysis
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Relevant academic or professional experience in the field of environmental science. Experience of applying this knowledge in an aviation setting would be desirable.
- Analytical and data management skills, with knowledge and experience of using Microsoft Excel and other software packages.
- Good knowledge of statistical analysis and presentation; experience of using charts and data visualisation tools
- Personal attributes of the post holder to include team worker with flexible and adaptable work ethos, analytical and lateral thinker with an eye for detail; ability to participate collaboratively in multi-disciplinary teams.
- Good interpersonal skills, including an ability to adapt appropriately to deal with people at all levels.
- Excellent planning and organisation skills with experience of working to deadlines.
- It’s important that the post holder is able to demonstrate initiative and maintain a solution-oriented approach.

Additional Information
For many appointments within the CAA, these roles require access to operationally sensitive infrastructure and/or Nationally Protected information. For these roles the post holders must undergo National Security Vetting and achieve the appropriate level of clearance.
