Contract Scotland are working with a tier-one main contractor to source an Environmental Sustainability Advisor. They have an impressive portfolio of major building projects and a strong pipeline of upcoming work across Central Scotland. As they strive to meet ambitious sustainability targets and ensure ongoing compliance with environmental legislation, the successful candidate will work closely with construction operational teams, fostering environmental compliance and sustainable practices.


As Environmental Sustainability Advisor, you will be responsible for (but not limited to):

  • Providing expert advice on environmental matters to management and site staff.
  • Developing Construction Environmental Management Plans, Site Waste Management Plans, and more.
  • Collaborating with project teams to integrate sustainable construction practices, materials, and technologies into project plans.
  • Conducting environmental impact assessments for proposed projects, identifying potential risks and recommending mitigation measures.
  • Conducting site environmental compliance audits.
  • Implementing monitoring programs to track environmental performance during construction projects and provide regular reports to management.
  • Assisting in permit applications and ensuring compliance with environmental permits, licenses, and exemptions.
  • Measuring performance against targets.
  • Staying informed about advancements in Environmental Sustainability within the construction industry and proposing innovative solutions for continuous improvement.


To be considered for this role you will:

  • Be degree-qualified in Environmental Science, Sustainability, or a related field.
  • Have demonstrable experience in Environmental Sustainability within the construction industry.
  • Have a working knowledge of Environmental Legislation.
  • Have a Full UK Driving Licence.
  • Experience using sustainability assessment methods (such as BREEAM and DREAM) is desirable but not essential.
