Job description

Open ended contract Full time 35 hours per week We are pleased to announce the creation of a new post of Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) Manager in the College of Science and Engineering.  The opportunity The post holder will support the College's commitment to fostering a diverse, inclusive and equitable environment across a community that includes both staff and students. The EDI Manager will play a crucial role in developing and promoting EDI initiatives, providing strategic support, and ensuring compliance with legal requirements. This role will be part of the College Office Planning & Operations team.  Your skills and attributes for success For this role we invite candidates that feel they have a large proportion of the following attributes: Sound understanding of current EDI theories, concepts, and best practices; familiarity with relevant UK legislation, regulations, accreditation frameworks and codes of practice related to EDI; and awareness of emerging trends, research, and advancements in the field of EDI. Proven experience in managing initiatives and projects; experience in monitoring, evaluating, and reporting on the impact and effectiveness of initiatives; ability to support the development and implementation of EDI strategies; and ability to think and plan strategically to identify and prioritise key areas for improvement, set measurable objectives, and make change happen. Effective oral and written communications skills, including ability to communicate complex concepts to non-expert audiences.  Effective interpersonal skills, with the ability to facilitate dialogue, engage and influence stakeholders at all levels, including staff, students, and external partners; demonstrable ability to build and maintain effective relationships and collaborations with diverse stakeholders; cultural competence and sensitivity to diverse perspectives, experiences, and identities, and the ability to foster inclusive cultures, navigate and address sensitive issues related to EDI. Commitment to advancing EDI principles, with an understanding of intersectionality and the importance of addressing systemic barriers. Degree or equivalent level of relevant professional experience; and a commitment to ongoing personal and professional development, including staying updated on current research, trends, legislation, and best practices.
