Job Description

Equipment Fitter - PKC11208
£25,508 - £27,874
Joint Equipment Loans Services (JELS), Inveralmond Industrial Estate, Perth

Are you an enthusiastic and motivated individual who can work in a professional manner as part of a busy team?

If so, then you may then have the qualities we are looking for to become our new Equipment Fitter at the Joint Equipment Loan Service (JELS), Perth.

The Joint Equipment Loan Service (JELS) provides a priority-driven delivery, fitting and collection service throughout Perth & Kinross; supplying equipment to meet the assessed needs of service users with physical disabilities, and acute and chronic illness.

Do you have the ability to work under pressure, prioritise, and problem solve?

If so, the equipment provided supports hospital discharge and prevents hospital admission by maximising the service user's independence within their home environment while supporting their rehabilitation and/or improving safety in their home.  Equipment is also supplied to support end of life situations.  This equipment includes daily living aids that assist with toileting, bathing, showering and household activities to pressure care mattresses and cushions, profiling beds and mobile hoists.

This is a great opportunity for an enthusiastic and motivated person to work as part of our busy team.  You will be required to deliver, fit, and collect our range of daily living aids and medical equipment issued into the community.  Working to pre-arranged schedules, client appointments have to be met within pre agreed timescales throughout the working day.

Can you communicate effectively to build relationships with clients/service users and other internal/external agencies to ensure a quality care provision?

If so, you will have experience in a customer facing role and must be personable and be able to communicate effectively with clients, team members, other professionals and the general public.  The role involves working out of our JELS store based in the Inveralmond Industrial Estate, Perth, the role predominantly involves mobile working within the community, individually or as part of a 2-person team.

Do you have the ability to identify, manage and mitigate potential risks to self and others, by applying existing guidelines, seeking advice when required?

If so, this post does involve manual handling work and you must be able to carry out the physical demands of the post.

The ability to work with minimal supervision and follow approved policies and procedures is essential due to the lone working aspect of the role, you will also have the opportunity to work as part of the established team and it would be of benefit if you have good team working skills along with a customer focused approach to work.

A knowledge of Occupational Therapy and Community Nursing equipment is desirable; however, training will be given as to the range of daily living aids and medical equipment issued into the Community.

The Individual

Do you have an understanding as to the Council’s Values and Behaviours as drivers as an organisation and as individuals, related to Ambition, Compassion, and Integrity?

If so, you will be able to influence the way we work with each other as well as the people and communities we serve, by:
•    Thinking “yes”, be creative, look to improve, and focus on positive outcomes.
•    Treating everyone with kindness, dignity, and respect.
•    Be open and honest, be fair and consistent, and support us to do what we say we will.

You must have a valid UK driving licence as this post requires you to travel to a variety of locations across Perth and Kinross.

A driving licence is essential due to the delivery, fitting and collection aspect of this role.

Ideally you will also have an excellent geographical knowledge of the Perth & Kinross area.

If you would like any more information regarding this vacancy or to visit JELS before you apply, please contact Daniel Quinn, Store Supervisor or Susan McInally, Manager on 01738 475757.

When completing your application for this post, please ensure that you provide contact details (including e-mail addresses) for two referees.  One should be your current or most recent employer.
