This post is based at Flotta oil terminal on a 2/3 rota.
JOB TITLE: ERT TECHNICIAN
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- ERT Specific duties include:
- Carrying out preventative and remedial maintenance on emergency response and safety equipment and appliances.
- Responding to breakdowns in a timely manner and carrying out and applying effective fault finding and investigation techniques.
- Carrying out and participating in Root Cause Analysis to improve equipment reliability.
- Ensuring comprehensive records and logs are maintained and effective handovers are carried out at crew change.
- Supporting and improving team performance by sharing knowledge and best practices
- Carrying out duties as directed by Maintenance Department when assigned to support Operations Maintenance Team.
- Carrying out atmospheric testing as required by various site departments.
- Responding to Terminal Incidents when off duty and being available if required
- Carry out assistance and coordination in the stores during periods of high workload / holidays / festive period as determined by the Maintenance Team Leader.
- Carrying out duties utilising mobile plant (excluding crane)
- Carrying out Radiation Protection Supervisor duties including administration of NORM storage & disposal.
- Providing confined space and working at height rescues when required.
- Attending offsite emergencies as directed by the Terminal Management.
- Regularly participating in emergency response drills and exercises
- Utilising site drone
- Security Specific duties include:
- Monitoring of CCTV, Access Control and other protective systems
- Logging and transferring telephone calls, relaying messages and providing security guidance and advice to visitors, clients, contractors and staff.
- Issuing/returning & logging the keys from the Controlled key cabinet
- Controlling entry into the Terminal.
- Conducting Security Inductions.
- Conducting random or with cause searches of personnel and their baggage.
- Carrying out regular security patrols around the site, the site perimeter and occupied and non-occupied buildings.
- Ensuring buildings, valuables or people are safe and secure.
- Compiling accurate incident reports where appropriate or requested.
- Co-ordinating site muster/evacuation procedures
- Calling Emergency Services, off shift duty personnel, altering Islanders in an emergency.
- Manning Security Building, carrying out daily administration
- Checking and recording Terminal interceptors (requirement of PPC Regulations).
- Monitoring the removal of materials from the Terminal.
- Reporting any breaches of the Terminal's Health & Safety rules or Port Facility Security Plan to the terminal management
- Utilising the messaging system to send alerts to staff and islanders
- Carrying out routine vehicle checks as per site procedure.
- Monitoring the security and Fire and Gas alarms at external site
- Utilising site drone
- Health & Safety
- Ensure all work is conducted in full compliance with RRUK HS&E policy, procedures and Safety Management System and any statutory requirements or obligations.
- Be familiar with and follow the RRUK Golden Rules for Health and Safety at all times.
- Actively participate and support all RSRUK and Petrofac Health, Safety & Environmental plans, initiatives and improvements.
- Actively participate in site iCare and Spot-It-Own-It reporting systems.
- Comply with all relevant Petrofac HS&E policies and procedures where appropriate.
- Carry out all activities in accordance with ISSoW including comprehensive and detailed Risk Assessments and Toolbox Talks, Stop and re-asses any job where change is identified.
- Report all accidents and incidents.

- Previous experience in Emergency Response / Fire Fighting role
- Previous experience and working knowledge of the Flotta Oil Terminal or other OEUK /COMAH installation preferable.
- Previous experience in Security.
- Ability to follow instructions and cooperate accordingly. Able to multi-skill to assist with a diverse range of tasks.
- Ability to work well on your own as well as part of a team.
