Job description

Job description

We are recruiting for qualified and experienced ESOL tutors to join our Family, Adult and Community Education Service (FACES).

Our team provides ESOL provision from pre-entry level up to level 2 as part of Sheffield City Council’s adult and community education provision. We work with partner ESOL organisations to support the need for ESOL in the city. We are a friendly, supportive and experienced team who offer education to our learners in a variety of venues across the city to make their access as easy as possible.

We are looking for passionate and innovative tutors, who can inspire and empower adult learners. Learners will be encouraged and supported to develop and achieve positive life-changes for themselves, their families and their communities.

In your role as an ESOL tutor, you will be planning and delivering high-quality ESOL lessons to a wide range of learners, levels and across settings. Therefore, describing your relevant and previous experience will be an important part of your application.

We deliver both regulated and non-regulated programmes of learning and use City & Guilds as our Awarding Body. Experience of delivering these qualifications would be desirable although not essential as training will be provided.

As part of your duties, you will also be expected to complete all relevant course documentation as required and undertake staff training.

If you need further information about this opportunity, please contact our Lead Tutor for ESOL delivery, Sharna Williams at sharna.williams@sheffield.gov.uk.

We are investing in our workforce and are promoting opportunities to our under-represented groups. We value equality, diversity and inclusion and are focused on increasing the diversity of our workforce, particularly the number of Black, Asian, Minority Ethnic, Disabled and LGBTQ+ people, so that our teams reflect the communities in the city we serve. We are also supporting staff with unpaid caring responsibilities to work flexibly.

It is a great time to join us and we welcome your application.

Under the Disability Confident Scheme, disabled applicants, who meet the essential criteria of this job, are guaranteed an interview.

Full-time employees work 37 hours for 52 weeks of the year and we offer a generous holiday entitlement. We are open to discussions about a wide range of flexible working opportunities which benefit you and the Council, including reduced hour contracts, working part time or as a job share.

We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare and safety of children and vulnerable adults and expect all staff to share this commitment. All successful candidates will be required to complete an Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service Check.

If you are appointed to this role, your starting salary will be at the bottom of the grade. If you provide payslip evidence that your basic pay is greater than the bottom of the grade, we will consider starting you at the point of minimum advantage within the grade.
