Global aerospace business requires an Estimating Engineer. Applicants need experience of estimating Metallic Raw Materials, have a technical appreciation of the material and an understanding of the supplier and subcontractor landscape.
An exciting commercial opportunity this role could suit someone from an Estimating, Manufacturing Engineering, Planning Engineering, Projects, DFM/DTC or NPI background. The role will entail the procurement of Metallic Raw Materials that will be used to produce aerospace parts. Experience within an aerospace/automotive business, or a precision engineering environment supporting a range of industry sectors could work well in this role.
Specific duties of the Estimating Engineer include:
- Procurement of Metallic Raw Materials
- Cost estimating and cost reduction activities
- Identification of alternative material usage and sources of supply
- Relationship management of suppliers and subcontractors
- Sharing technical knowledge of Metallic Raw Materials - measurements, tolerances, variants etc.
- Support NPI activities from a materials enablement standpoint
Estimating Engineer applicants should meet the following criteria:
- Ability to estimate the cost of Metallic Raw Materials
- Knowledge of Metallic Raw Materials, supplier, supply chain and subcontractor landscape
- An understanding of DFM/DTC, design for manufacture / design to cost
- Understanding of mechanical manufacturing processes
- Outgoing, confident personality - capable of engaging with stakeholders at all levels
