Job Title: Mechanical and Electrical Estimator

Location: Bedford, UK

Salary: £40,000 - £70,000 per annum (based one experience)

Responsibilities:

• Conduct detailed estimation and costing for mechanical and electrical components of commercial, industrial, and planned maintenance projects.
• Review project specifications, drawings, and other documentation to accurately assess project requirements.
• Prepare comprehensive cost estimates, including materials, labour, equipment, and subcontractor costs.
• Collaborate closely with project managers, engineers, and suppliers to gather necessary information and ensure accurate pricing.
• Analyse project risks and opportunities and develop strategies to optimize costs and enhance competitiveness.
• Evaluate subcontractor bids and proposals, negotiate terms and conditions, and facilitate subcontractor selection.
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry pricing trends, material costs, and labour rates to inform cost estimates.
• Prepare and present cost estimates and proposals to clients and stakeholders.
• Assist in the development and refinement of estimating processes and procedures to improve efficiency and accuracy.

Requirements:

• Proven experience (minimum 5 years) working as an Estimator, preferably within the mechanical and electrical sector.
• Strong knowledge of mechanical and electrical systems, including containment, fire alarms, AV, networks, lighting, security systems, structured cabling, LV distribution, emergency lighting, etc.
• Proficiency in estimating software and MS Office Suite.
• Excellent analytical and mathematical skills with a keen attention to detail.
• Effective communication and negotiation abilities.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
