Event Director
Hybrid / London
BMI is the world leader of student recruitment events and is expanding their portfolio of international events in Asia, The Middle East, Brazil, and Latin America. BMI will operate over 124 in-person and virtual recruitment B2C and B2B events.
We are hiring for an Event Director which would be an opportunity for an experienced professional to work in an international business environment and manage several high-profile student related events.
Role and responsibilities:
Marketing:
- Creating and implementing a strategy for promoting the events to parents and students at local schools, universities and higher education institutions.
- Researching, contacting and negotiating with potential Media partners relevant to our events.
- Managing PR and negotiating with various media channels who may be interested in advertising and promoting our events.
- Providing creative input on digital and print advertising.
- Managing the day-to-day event budget and operation of the events’ website including organising translation where necessary.
Operations and logistics:
- Negotiating and managing relationships with venues, stand contractors and local suppliers.
- Helping to compile the exhibitor manuals, allocate exhibition space and assist clients attending our events
- Updating content on the BMI Exhibitor Information System
- Liaising and managing our relationships with international partners, exhibitors and sponsors
- Attending overseas events to manage build up, assign tasks to team members, co-ordinate activities for a smooth and successful operation
- Ensuring event health and safety and working across general logistics
- Sourcing, negotiation and contractual arrangements with all third-party suppliers like venues, stand builders and printers
- Receiving invoices from suppliers and arrangement with finance team for payment
- Managing an event budget and updating and tracking actual costs against budget
Skills and experience:
- Solid events industry experience including conferences and exhibitions
- Hands-on experience of recruiting and managing a marketing and operations team as well as strong customer service skills.
- Excellent communication skills in English both written and spoken.
- Solid experience in Microsoft Word, Excel and Trello.
- Highly organised, committed, responsible, detail-oriented and self-disciplined
- Ability to travel overseas when required
- Additional language skills and experience in the education sector would be an advantage.
