EVENTS MANAGER

A Place at My Table is hosting Sutton’s first ever Literary Festival. We’re seeking two enthusiastic individuals to join our team as Event/Set Designers. In this role, you will play a crucial part in bringing our events and projects to life by conceptualizing, designing, and implementing visually stunning and immersive environments. Your creativity and attention to detail will contribute to the overall success of our events and enhance the experience of our participants and audiences.

Qualifications and Person Specification:

• Undergraduate or postgraduate studying a relevant subject.
• Proven experience in Event/Set Design, interior design, scenic design, or related field. –
• Strong creative vision and artistic ability, with a keen eye for detail and aesthetics.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
• Flexibility and adaptability to accommodate changing project requirements and constraints.
• Knowledge of design principles, materials, and construction techniques.
• Commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion, with a passion for supporting our organization’s mission and serving our community.

Additional Information:

• Summer Lunch Festival Briefing: Attendance at the Festival Briefing in August is mandatory for all volunteers. This briefing will cover important topics such as Health and Safety protocols, festival procedures, and team coordination strategies.
• Lunch and travel expenses will be provided each day for Events Managers. – We adhere to safe recruitment practices, and applicants will be required to complete a volunteer application form, attend internal safeguarding training, and undergo a DBS check.
• High quality supervision will be provided by three consultants specialising in events management.

Main Duties

Key Responsibilities

• Conceptualize and design Event/Set layouts, themes, and aesthetics in alignment with project goals, objectives, and target audience.
• Collaborate closely with project coordinators, artists, and other team members to understand project requirements, timelines, and budgets.
• Develop mood boards, sketches, and visual presentations to communicate design concepts and ideas effectively.
• Source and select materials, props, furnishings, and decor elements to bring design concepts to life, considering aesthetics, functionality, and budget constraints.
• Oversee the setup, installation, and dismantling of Event/Set Designs, ensuring adherence to safety standards, timelines, and quality standards.
• Provide guidance and support to volunteers assisting with Event/Set setup and decoration, delegating tasks and providing training as needed.
• Contribute creative ideas and suggestions to enhance the overall visual impact and effectiveness of our events and projects.
