Post Title: Examinations Assistant

Location: John Port Spencer Academy

Salary/Pay Range: NJC06 – NJC10

Hours of work: 37 hours per week, 41 weeks per year. (Term time plus 2 weeks)

Reporting to: Examinations & Assessment Manager

Purpose of Role
To assist with the organisation of all internal and external examinations within the school working under the direction of the Examinations and Assessment Manager and the member of SLT with responsibility for progress.

Some flexibility of working hours will be required. During busy examination periods it may be necessary to work more hours whilst at other times it may be possible to work less.

Under the direction of the Examinations and Assessment Manager ensure that all guidance is followed to ensure that the centre complies with the Joint Council for Qualifications (JCQ) regulations and within awarding bodies rules for exam administration.

Main Duties and Responsibilities
1. Assist with administration of exams in accordance with awarding body and JCQ regulations.

2. Assist with the accurate processing of data for internal and/or external examinations.

3. Liaise with staff, stakeholders and other bodies involved in the examination process.

4. Co-ordinate the supervision/invigilation arrangements for internal and external examinations.

5. Co-ordinate the implementation of access and special arrangements for students taking internal and/or external examinations and ensure that systems are up to date.

6. Ensure that the security and integrity of examinations are maintained.

7. Assist staff involved in the processing of exam and assessment data.

8. Assist in the collection and validation of assessment data.

9. Assist in preparations for exam results days and be present on those days to support the Exams team.

10. Make available for collection student examination results and certificates.

11. Support the Examinations Manager in checking all examination materials are received in accordance with published timetables and ensure timely and secure storage.

12. Support arrangements for the secure storage and dispatch of examination scripts for marking.

13. Maintain the confidentiality and security of candidate exam scripts according to the regulations.

14. Support with the co-ordination of internal mock examinations and collate papers for collection.

15. Comply with JCQ and school policies and procedures.

16. Assist in ensuring that Invigilators and Teaching Assistants are kept informed of good practice in order to ensure compliance with JCQ regulations.

Qualifications and experience

GCSE Maths and English grade C or equivalent X

Good standard of written and spoken English X

Experience of working in a busy environment X

Experience of managing and maintaining data and resources in a secure

Experience of working in a Secondary education setting and previous
