Exams Officer

Band 8 (SCP 16-22)

37 h/pw Term Time + 2 weeks

FTE Actual £25,170 to £27,914 dependent on experience

Part time will be considered with hours to suit the role.

Accountable to: SLT Line Manager

Lead the management, organisation and administration of all external and internal examinations.

  • Manage the exams budget accurately and efficiently.
  • Ensure all policies and procedures are updated annually to meet any requirements from JCQ or other relevant exam boards.
  • Follow all guidelines and procedures laid down by JCQ or other relevant exam boards.
  • Ensure all entries are processed and checked for public examinations, working with the SENDCo to ensure access arrangements are fully implemented.
  • To keep fully up to date with Access Arrangements in accordance with the JCQ guidelines
  • To work with the SENDCo and Access Arrangements Assessor to ensure Access Arrangements are fully implemented
  • Make arrangements for all examinations including timetabling, rooming, seating and invigilation.
  • Manage all aspects of BTEC and OCR Cambridge National and Technical qualification administration including registration, unit entries, transferral, checking and maintaining accurate records.
  • Communicate examination information effectively and timely with all stakeholders including students, families and teaching staff.
  • Lead on the recruitment and training of invigilation staff and ensure that all examinations are adequately set up and staffed.
  • Ensure receipt, storage, distribution, and sending of exam scripts with appropriate security, ensuring all deadlines are met.
  • Distribute external examination results, dealing with queries arising from results and administrating requests for post-results services.
  • Oversee distribution and checking of examination certificates.
  • Liaise with staff, families, and students on queries and complaints about external and internal examinations.
  • Attend meetings / training and carry out administrative tasks and duties as specified on the Academy calendar.
  • Provide appropriate training and support to staff when required
  • Engage fully in the appraisal process and take opportunities to develop by engagement in CPD opportunities
  • Consistently implement all academy policies
  • Report any safeguarding concerns immediately to a Designated Safeguarding Lead
  • Carry out any other reasonable duties as requested by the Headteacher
