Job description

The Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) has an exciting opportunity right at the heart of their SCA Directorate. We are looking for an organised, flexible and detail-orientated Executive Assistant who can provide effective high-level support to the 3 Directors of Strategy, Communications and Advocacy (SCA).

About the Competition and Markets Authority

We help people, businesses, and the UK economy by promoting competitive markets and tackling unfair behaviour. Our work is wide ranging, ambitious and often new and challenging.

What you will do

You will work closely with the 3 directors, providing fast-paced diary support, whilst helping them to set and deliver their priorities. You will identify upcoming risks and challenges, providing sound advice to the Directors based off on your own astute judgement to provide effective solutions. This will involve researching issues, reviewing documents and liaising closely with colleagues from across the CMA, to successfully ensure the continued operation of the Directorate.

In order to maintain high-level operational support, you will need to work closely with other Executive Assistants and Personal Assistants from the SCA directorate, providing the skills and flexibility needed to deal with a range of duties within a fast-paced environment. This may also mean undertaking additional delivery responsibilities in relation to projects within the Directorate.

What you will need

You will provide evidence of strong administrative skills, including proficiency in document production and management. You will exhibit previous experience of successfully prioritising multiple work tasks to meet strict deadlines, along with the ability to work effectively as part of a team or independently.

You will demonstrate an excellent ICT capability, particularly with Microsoft Office programmes and will also possess astute research and analysis skills, with experience of gathering, summarising and presenting information for varying audiences, with the ability to tailor communications according to the needs of different people.

What we can offer you

The CMA is a hugely diverse, rewarding and stimulating place to work – an opportunity to work for the public good and to stretch and develop yourself in doing so. We offer generous benefits, including an excellent pension scheme with an average employer contribution of 27%, at least 25 days leave (increasing to 30 over five years), and generous maternity/paternity leave provision. You can also take advantage of interest-free season ticket loans, a cycle to work scheme, our employee assistance programme, and our extensive flexible working options.

Closing date for applications: 11:55 pm on Monday 8th July 2024.

The CMA are an accredited Disability Confident Employer, and we are an equal opportunities employer, welcoming suitably qualified applicants from all backgrounds.

We recruit by merit on the basis of fair and open competition, as outlined in the Civil Service Commission's recruitment principles.
