It’s an exciting time to join BBC Studios Productions - we are currently in production with Sky; the BBC, Channel 4, Discovery, National Geographic, Netflix, Apple TV and Migu to name just a few.

We are looking to recruit an Executive Producer to join Specialist Factual Productions in Glasgow. They will be responsible for developing new business and will play a key role in the delivery and quality of the department’s portfolio, working to the Creative Director and Genre Head. We are looking especially for experience and understanding of Specialist Factual film-making, development experience and production. We want to build on our heritage and continue to create bold, ambitious and ground-breaking content across a variety of platforms.

This role will be based in Glasgow with some travel required to different production bases in the UK. We currently operate on a hybrid working business, with 2-3 days per week in the office on a full time basis. If you are already established in Glasgow - or would like to find out more about living and working in this creative, vibrant city - we would love to hear from you.

  • In this role, the Executive Producer needs to attract the best filmmaking talent on and off-screen and help set a culture where those people want to come and work. The role will call for exceptional management of a diverse team of people, encouraging the flow of ideas and an open culture where teams can do their best work. The Executive Producer will be responsible for increasing inclusion on- and off-screen.

  • You will need a proven track record of bringing projects in compliant, on schedule and on budget.

Are you the Right Candidate?

The ideal candidate will have:

  • extensive recent TV broadcast editorial experience at Executive Producer level, specifically across Documentaries and Specialist Factual programming.

  • a current track record of shaping and delivering premium content series with major broadcasters, including (but not limited to) the BBC, Sky, Channel 4, and the major SVoDs e.g. Disney +, Apple, Netflix, National Geographic and Discovery. Launching a first-series and / or re-launching a format to success is essential.

  • A current, established network of commissioner relationships across a breadth of broadcasters and platforms

  • extensive recent experience of leading and inspiring production teams in a multi-platform environment and an ability to demonstrate strong managerial skills and positive behaviours.

  • effective planning and organising skills with the ability to concentrate on several areas of work at one time, prioritising, delivering consistently to deadlines and reacting positively to changes and conflicting priorities

  • proven senior-level experience in financial and budget planning/responsibility, working closely with production management teams to keep multiple and complex shows within budget, along with a demonstrable ability to provide strong editorial judgement in a fast-moving environment
