External Advisers, Equity, Diversity and Inclusion Committee
The RCN is the largest professional association and union of nursing staff and students in the UK. We promote nursing interests, represent and campaign on behalf of our members and the people they care for. We're also a leading player in the development of nursing policy and practice. It works to represent nurses and nursing, promoting excellence in practice and shaping health policies.
The Equity Diversity and Inclusion Committee oversees the implementation of the RCN's EDI strategy; manages and prioritises funding within the agreed annual programme budget across workstreams; and connects into Council, the Professional Nursing Committee and the Trade Union Committee, and the RCN's EDI networks.
"The EDI Committee supports RCN Council by providing advice on the development of its equity, diversity and inclusion strategies. The committee ensures that the organisation is getting good value for money and that resources, which include member's subscriptions, are being used wisely."
We are seeking two External Advisers to join the EDI Committee whose role will be to specifically advise on the development of the RCN's EDI strategy. Some of this work will be informed by recent culture and governance reviews.
Candidates will have had recent significant strategic responsibilities or academic knowledge e.g. as Head of EDI or within Academia. In addition, candidates should;
- Have experience of Board or Committee processes
- Have interest in the work of the RCN
- Be willing and able to meet the time commitment
